I rode 1 lap of the course this morning before work with Kris. All I can say is that he was fast and I wasn't! I really like the first 70% of the course and could grow to like the last 30% with more practice. Once you hit South Mountain Golf Course the trail gets really narrow which, combined with some tight corners and sandy surface, made me a bit nervous. The section of trail that parallels Highland Drive has you cruising through high grass hoping there are no hidden obstacles underneath! That section also had some deep sand that made things interesting. The descent down Clark's is going to be a ripper for those willing to let go of the brakes!

How much of the course in the shade?
It's hard to say since we rode it early and the sky was cloudy. Having ridden Clark's two weeks ago after work when the temp was in the 80's I do know that section is all shade.
I'll pay better attention when I ride it again later this week.
The long climb from the start to the top of Clark's has almost no shade. Clark's is pretty shady. The BST section along Mike Wier has some shade (1/3?). Spring Hollow has only a little shade as does the final section along Highland Drive and back up to the start. If it's a hot day, this race will be a cooker.
when you riding it again?
Probably either Wed or Thurs and then Friday. I really need to get comfortable with the 2nd half of the course.
Will you be racing on Monday?
I will be racing Monday and preriding probably early Friday morning. How is the course?
I'll be pre-riding again on Friday around 6:30. If you start after that I'll probably see you as you fly by!
The www.utahmountainbiking.com website has a good description of the course on the main page. They call it the Draper Race Loop.
