Bike Commute Day 1

Finally! I've been meaning to ride in for a while now and this morning I finally managed to get it done thanks to a friend in the office who was also commuting. Assuming the weather is ok, and there isn't too much of a south wind blowing, I'll ride home. Otherwise I'll jump on TRAX. Either way I'm not using gas which is a good thing - it cost me $43 to fill up my Civic last week!

Forrest passed us at 400 E and 3300 S on his way to work. That dude is dedicated to the commute though tomorrow he may want to drive so he can shred the snow that is forecast to fall in the mountains.

Some are claiming 6000ft snowline. When does the Solitude series start?

You could do the Alpine Loop with me after work. Just take Trax down to Sandy and I'll pick you up.

The Solitude series is scheduled to begin on June 24. Do you think the snow will be gone in 3 weeks?

did you wear your wife's capris?

all the hip commuters are wearing the capris.

No, I didn't wear capris while riding. However, I am wearing capris now. They aren't my wife's though, but rather a man-specific version I picked up at REI. I'll bet you didn't think I was hip like that did you? It's nice working in a casual office: Ride to work, change into a pair of long shorts (I'm not comfortable using the word capris yet...), a t-shirt and flip flops.

TT on Thursday. Be there.

The tt is on my schedule. Unfortunately, so is my son's birthday and a church meeting. Out of the 3 scheduled activities the birthday wins. If the weather cooperates I'll probably bring my bike to work and do the tt at lunch.

We should do a climb next week.

I'm waffling between Sugarhouse Crit and a long ride with a few teammates.

Rumor has it we'll be doing the Emigration/East Canyon/Morgan loop.

The course at DV rode great tonight. Pretty big change in the last quarter of the ride.

I think its funny how people love to rip on commuters and hipsters for the non spandex attire. Dont people have something better to complain about. For crying out loud why doesnt anyone say anything when someone wears the neon pink tmobile jersey or even their hideous club jersey or when they drive their hummer to a bike race. I love cycling, but come on, cyclist are way too anal and hypocritical!

Forrest - I'm with you. Who cares what you choose to wear when commuting. I go with my standard cycling clothes because my ride is over an hour and I don't really have anything else to wear. Where is your office located? We should try and ride in together sometime. I'm at the corner of 400 E and S. Temple.

Mark, I ride from Cottonwood, near Lone Star to 2300 South and Main. I take VanWinkle to 4500 south and bust over to 5th east to 2700 South then cruise over to Main street. Is this on your route?
