I left my shoes at home.
I was going to hang out for a while but I was so frustrated that I just went home. Stupid rookie mistake.
The only positive is that I was able to transfer my registration to Solitude where I'm now pre-registered to race Sport 30-34. It's going to be painful...

everyone does that from time to time. dont beat your self up over it. no big deal, you will race next time.
Dude i have done that at Nationals back in the day, lost them on the hitch-hike to the race, borrowed size 11 shoes, i wear nines, everyone does it, once bitten twice shy.
years back, in Kentucky 1.5 hour drive to trail (not race) get there for the twice monthly ride to discover shoes not with me, I ripped it in Teva's, wouldn't suggest it.
My pre race ritual has left me putting Helmet, Shoes, tubes, multi-tool, gels in the same old ratty k-mart duffle, every day. I have forgotten water bottles recently though.
Never done it.
But I have been a victim of. Team van u-turn, add 4 hours to the trip.

Yeah, that wasn't clear. Someone else forgot their shoes and we turned around to go get 'em.
That totally reeks. Everyone has done stuff like that before.
Here's a tip. When you first get in your car to go race before leaving... picture yourself from starting at your head (helmet, sunglasses... to toe (shoes). Then do the same thing with food and bike. Also you can do a checklist, I gladly will e-mail one to you if you need it, and frankly anyone else who wants one. It's on Excel if you need to manipulate it. For instance you may not need Lithium like me...
